[3:10]  1 tn Or “the righteous” (KJV, NASB, NIV, TEV); NLT “those who are godly.”

[3:10]  2 tn Heb “that it is good.”

[3:10]  3 tn Heb “for the fruit of their deeds they will eat.”

[12:6]  4 sn See the note on the phrase “the Holy One of Israel” in 1:4.

[12:6]  5 tn Or “is great” (TEV). However, the context emphasizes his mighty acts of deliverance (cf. NCV), not some general or vague character quality.

[21:6]  6 tn The Hebrew term translated “sovereign master” here and in vv. 8, 16 is אֲדֹנָי (’adonay).

[26:12]  7 tn Heb “O Lord, you establish peace for us.”

[26:12]  8 tc Some suggest emending גַּם כָּל (gam kol, “even all”) to כִּגְמֻל (kigmul, “according to the deed[s] of”) One might then translate “for according to what our deeds deserve, you have acted on our behalf.” Nevertheless, accepting the MT as it stands, the prophet affirms that Yahweh deserved all the credit for anything Israel had accomplished.

[28:20]  9 sn The bed and blanket probably symbolize their false sense of security. A bed that is too short and a blanket that is too narrow may promise rest and protection from the cold, but in the end they are useless and disappointing. In the same way, their supposed treaty with death will prove useless and disappointing.

[29:20]  10 tn Heb “and all the watchers of wrong will be cut off.”

[33:5]  11 tn Or “elevated”; NCV, NLT “is very great.”

[33:5]  12 tn Or “for” (KJV, NASB, NIV).

[33:5]  13 tn Heb “on high” (so KJV, NAB, NASB, NIV, NRSV); CEV “in the heavens.”
